OK. It's been almost a week since we found out that we were going to be parents. So far we've told both of our parents and some of our siblings (I've told both my brother and my sister, but E is holding out telling her two brothers and large extended family until we get doctor confirmation....more on that later). The good news is that everyone is happy and excited. Being an interracial couple we had some concerns, but we couldn't of planned a better response from our family. My mother was somewhat shocked at the premise of being a grandmother, but I think that she going to fall into the role quite nicely. I can't tell you how elated my brother was. He has already dubbed himself the "Gadget Uncle" (Don't ask). My sister, who is on a tour of duty with the Wall Street Journal in Asia, is already planning her return stateside. My Dad who is going to turn 65 in a few weeks is going to be a proud Grandfather. And don't even get me started on E's parents... They were the first to know and two happier people on the planet could probably not be found.
The people in the picture are my family. My brother is probably my best friend and best man. I can't tell you how close I am to my sister, as for my parents...even the Internet may not have enough space to tell their story. After 36 years in the mix I still love them and look forward to the next chapter of life with them all.
