Sanity and HCG Levels

Calm has once again been restored to the White House. After a few stressful days of waiting for our HCG test results to come back we got some good news today. Our HCG levels went up between Friday and Monday. That's good news because had the HCG level only gone up slightly or decreased it could have meant problems with the baby. Today's photograph shows our HCG counts from Friday and Monday. As you can see our HCG level was 138,781 on Friday and 147,109 on Monday. The results actually caused quite the alarm because we were expecting them to double and they ended up only showing an increase of around 10,000. However, our Doctor told us that at around 10 weeks the HCG amounts tend to level off. Our new count turned out to be almost exactly in the middle of the acceptable ranges. So with good news in hand our next steps will be to have our first ultrasound on Friday morning at 7:45A and a subsequent meeting with our new OB/GYN at 9A.

So here's what I've learned over the past few days. 1. Relax--Just because you think that your world is spinning out of control doesn't make it so. 2. When your Doctor doesn't call you back when you think that he or she should doesn't means that they've got good or bad news. It means that your call is behind 30 other people who think that their world is spinning out of control too. 3. Always think positively and don't entertain thoughts of gloom and doom (Life is just too short to worry. Just deal with the bad news if it presents itself) 4. Talk to your spouse. Most likely the reason that you got married in the first place is because he or she helps bring happiness and balance to your life. You never know what insights your spouse might have that could help get you over the rough spots in the pregnancy and life. 5. New found respect for parents everywhere. As my Mom said to me today..."Payback is hell!" and E's Mom said that "Pregnancy and Parenthood are the most terrifying and exciting jobs that you'll ever have." We believe them both.

Good morning D&E. I know everything is going well, never doubted it. I have added Baby White to my prayer list and have prayed that the blood of Jesus protect him/her all the days of its life. And my prayers are with you D&E, because Baby White is going to be a trip and you are going to need lots of energy. Don't forget to talk to Baby White. I talked to the 3 little monsters and you see how chatty, they are.
