It's official. E successfully defended her thesis on "Characterization of peptide and RNA structrual determinants of transfactor binding to an AU--Rich mRNA destabilizing sequence". Yeah, I don't understand what all that means either, but E was very impressive this morning when she was presenting in front of an audience of about 30 people. I personally was very impressed. It's amazing when you really think about it that we really don't know a lot as individuals. I mean I sat in the room intensely focused on every word that came out of E's mouth and I still didn't have a clue as to what she was talking about. Ultimately I think that half of the room was there today for moral support and the other half actually knew what she was talking about.
We'll E is now the first Ph.D in both of our families and everyone is happy. Probably no one more so than E.
E's Dad captured the picture above of E's boss showing her the door and booting her out into the world.
I think that I speak for everyone when I say that we're all very proud of you E. Now let's just pray Baby White get your brains.

Congratulations to my wonderful dsughter-in-law! What a wonderful accomplishment in earning a doctrate...And while I am delighted that E is the first memeber of our family to earn a PhD, I am willing to bet that even she would agree that becoming the mother of my first grandchild is of at least equal importance. Dad.
I am soooo happy for you. So sorry I couldn't make it there, I was there in spirit. Grats!
I know its way late, but congrats is always good, so congratulations to you and God bless you all! Love, Val
