Due to the benevolence of my beautiful, wonderful, connected sister E, NJ, J and I were blessed with an amazing day in DC. We started it off with a tour of the White House. Apparently you can no longer just go on the tour of the White House. You actually have to get an invitation from a Congressman. Fortunate for us, we know someone.
The tour was self-guided as you weave around the East Wing of the building. I was amazed to see so many of the portraits that I've seen so many times in textbooks and magazines. Security as you can imagine was tight. Unfortunately we couldn't bring in any electronic equipment of any sort so I wasn't able to get any pictures. We actually got something much more valuable and that was the memory.
NJ had a bit of a meltdown about 1/2 way through as she wanted to sit on all of the furniture and couldn't. On a totally random note, I bumped into my middle school Home Economics teacher while on the tour, which was just plain crazy.
Afterwards Aunt D arranged for us to meet her boss, the one and only John McCain. We got to spend a few minutes talking with him and taking a family photo. He was an extremely nice man who had wonderful things to say about Aunt D and our family. I have a feeling if he would of gotten elected we would of had a much different tour of the White House.
It was simply an amazing day and a memory that we will all have for the rest of our lives.
Enjoy the new pictures!
That's a real Monet in my sister's office!
P.S. McCain actually gave a holiday shout out to Exit10.
