OB/GYN

We had another OB/GYN appointment today. Somehow our doc can never seem to make it to our appointments on time so unfortunately E had to carry on solo.

The good news is that all continues to go well with the pregnancy. The baby's heartbeat was strong at 131 beats per minute and E's uterus was exactly where it should be at this point of the pregnancy.

Believe it or not Baby White is getting ready to go into his/her third trimester, depending on whether you subscribe to the 9 months or 40 weeks of pregnancy timetable. Before you know it Baby White is going to be on the scene.

In February, we start visiting our OB/GYN every two weeks. E also has a series of tests coming up as we get closer to BW-Day. Our first test is for Gestational Diabetes next week and E will also be getting RhoGAM due to the fact that she has RH negative blood. Apparently there is a complication that can occur called RH Disease if Mom is RH negative and the baby is RH positive. The disease can cause the development of antibodies that can adversely effect mother and child. To prevent potential complications E will get a series of two RhoGAM shots. One at 28 weeks and one 72 hours after the Baby White's birth. I wish I could say that I understand it completely, but if you want to learn more about the condition check out:

E is also getting checked for Gestational Diabetes which is characterized as high glucose levels in the blood stream. It's a relatively rare condition occurring in only 3 to 5% of pregnant women. Oddly enough one of E's close friends was diagnosed with it so it never hurts to get checked out.

So all in all everything is going well. E is really starting to show and we can't wait to meet Baby White.
