It's another big weekend of Baby White updates so sit back, relax and let's get to the bloggin' Saturday marked the 36th week of the pregnancy. One more week and Baby White will be considered full-term. Friday we had an early morning doctor appointment. The agenda--check the baby's position, heartbeat, and estimated weight. However we have a little reason for concern, but nothing too critical at this point. It looks like Baby White is still sitting head up in E's belly. Apparently first time babies some times like to stay in the womb a little bit longer. Our doctor ordered an ultrasound just to be certain and sure enough Baby White is head up and just hanging out. The ultrasound also revealed a little of the umbilical cord around the baby's neck. We still have time for Baby White to flip, but if he or she doesn't then we may have to look at a c-section or manually flipping the baby. What the ultrasound also revealed was that Baby White has hair. Our tech showed us Baby White's face and little wisps of hair which puts Baby White about 3 and a 1/2 years ahead of where his or her mother was at the same time when she was a baby.
Our ultrasound tech and doctor estimated the baby's weight at 5 lbs 8oz. According to the March of Dimes, at this point in the pregnancy babies put on approximately 1/2 lbs. of weight each week. So if you do the math Baby White is on track to weigh 7.5 lbs which is about what Dad weighed when he was born.
E and I celebrated our sixth year of knowing one another yesterday. We met on St. Patty's Day 2001 and neither one of us would have predicted that we'd be starring dead in the eye at parenthood six years later. The good news is that we're still having fun together and we're excited about this new chapter of our lives.
