It's official if it wasn't already. Baby White is coming. Okay, the following is a little gross, but we're coming to realize that this birth process isn't exactly a pretty thing. And, we're trying to stay true to the pregnancy experience, even the parts that we'd rather pretend didn't happen. So, yesterday E lost her Mucous Plug. Now you're probably thinking the same thing I was, "What the *!@$K% is a mucous plug?!?!" According to those internet gurus the cervix secretes mucous which forms a thick mucous plug. The plug forms on the cervix and is designed to prevent any bacteria getting into the uterus which provides an extra layer of protection for the baby. Typically, an expecting mother will lose her mucous plug around 35 - 37 weeks. Although it is a sign that the pregnancy is progressing it is not an exact determiner of when the baby is coming. E's informal poll among friends showed that the baby could arrive between 1 and 3 weeks from seeing the plug.
Last night it just got real for E and I. We're really going to be
parents. Most likely sooner than we thought.
