This may be the last picture of E's belly that you'll see because tomorrow night Baby White could be on this side of E's belly. As everyone knows who's been following the blog over the past few weeks, Baby White is currently in a transverse breech position and it doesn't look like he or she is planning on moving. Today we met with the OB/GYN that would be performing the C-section should it be needed. We had a long consult with her and we basically have 3 courses of action:
1. We wait out Baby White and hope that he or she turns before E's water breaks.
2. We go ahead and do a planned C-Section now.
3. We try a version (aka External Cephalic Version or ECV). This is the process where the doctor tries to manually turn the baby into the right position by hand from the outside.
Each option has it's Pros and Cons, but we've opted to try the version tomorrow morning at 7AM to get Baby White into the right position for a vaginal birth.
We named today's entry "Baby White Cometh". The reason we chose that title is because we really could have a baby that's outside the womb tomorrow. If during the version Baby White gets stressed and his/her heart beat stays elevated or depressed for longer than 3 minutes then they may have to do an emergency c-section.
Either way E and I were brought back to reality. If the version works we wait until Baby White comes out naturally. If it doesn't work then most likely we'll have a c-section on Monday, April 9th. At that news both E and I collectively said WHOA!!! and everything got real. We were fully counting on that extra week to relish our last days of being footloose and fancy-free.
So Baby White could make a quick arrival tomorrow. Check out the new poll on Baby White's arrival date and stay tuned for more details tomorrow.
