As crazy as it sounds the bedroom set that we ordered last Monday got delivered today. We were told that it would take 6 to 8 weeks to get the crib from Canada, but it came in less than 2 weeks. We were incredibly impressed with the store and the sales staff where we bought the crib. So much so that I'm going to give them a shoutout. The store is Lullaby Baby in Columbia, MD. They carry an assortment of baby and children's furniture and clothing. The staff was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. We'll definitely end up going back at some point to get some more stuff for the nursery.
So after I got the furniture set up I thought that it might be a cool idea to show everyone the step by step progress of the nursery like a construction project. The room is fairly small so were trying to figure out the best arrangement for the furniture. I think we've got it. The only problem now is trying to figure out how to get a rocking chair into the room for those late night feeding sessions.
Special safety notice to all you parents out there setting up nurseries. I was reading that it is important to set up all furniture at least one month prior to the arrival of your new baby. Apparently new furniture, bedding and toys tend to release mildly toxic gases for a short period of time after opening or setup. This is especially true for objectives made of plastics and pressed woods. It's also a good idea to get all painting done a couple of months prior to the arrival of your new baby. Paint apparently will release gases for some time after being applied. If you're short on time make sure to keep the windows open and create a breeze to move the gases out.
Today was another one of those strange and wonderful days for me. As I looked at the crib and the changing table all I could think about was a crying baby, a smiling baby, a poopy baby and a sleeping baby. That coupled with E's growing belly and the hyperactive baby inside it has me feeling more and more like a father these days.
